Dell – Product Registration FAIL

Because I’m a lunatic I purchased a All-In-One Printer from Dell.  Why would I do that?  Well those pictures of Hitler as a transvestite prostitute robot are not going to print themselves!!

Anyways, as part of the setup, it asks if I want to register my product.  ”Fine with me!” I say out loud even though no one is in the room.  And I proceed to go to their registration site.  That’s when I get mad.

I go to the site, and it’s asking some basic questions, such as name, date of birth, blood type, political stance, age, email, etc etc etc.  Then there is the drop down list for where you purchased your product…

Dell Registration site

Where's Dell?

Notice what’s missing there?  That’s right! The printer I bought directly from DELL, does not allow me to choose DELL as the retailer!  Way to go morons!

Now some of you bitter types might just say; “That’s why they have an ‘Unlisted’ option you tool!”   Well fuck you you smug bastard! Guess what?  I already tried that option!!! (I know I’m an idiot, but give me some credit)

That big red error message behind the drop down is what you get if you select ‘Unlisted.’  The ‘Unlisted’ option tells me to fill out the Private Seller information, as in I bought it from some third party like Ebay or the likes.

Seriously though, if you SELL a product, why not put your Company in the Retailer list?  Is it that unthinkable that someone might buy the product straight from you Dell?  And I thought I had self-esteem issues.

Maybe they don’t list Dell because they are Not proud to sell their stuff and don’t want anyone to know that they do direct sales?
Or -more likely- the Marketing Director “thought” the web designer was smart enough to include the company on the list. Means I have a shot at getting hired in the Marketing Dept when I relocate to Texas.
Tell the Big lie. Tell the big lie loud. Tell the big lie often. Soon people will Beleive the Big Lie. Worked in Germany in the 1930s and early 1940s, why not now.
